Giving Tuesday was introduced in 2012. It's a day that inspires millions of people to come together to celebrate generosity and to support worthy causes around the world. Like many international schools, HKIS is and always has been a non-profit school.

Make Your Gift
Making a Gift to Friends of HKIS for Giving Tuesday:
- Gifts made through Friends of HKIS—whether on Giving Tuesday or any other time—are fully tax-deductible under US law, and all gifts will receive a gift acknowledgment and receipt.
- Gifts using debit or credit card may be made quickly using the online giving form. You can make a one-time or recurring gift.
- You can designate your gift to support one of the four key areas for Giving Tuesday, or to the Area of Greatest Need. If making a gift by debit or credit card, simply select from the options in the online giving form. Learn more about your Annual Fund giving choices here:
Smart Giving on Giving Tuesday
- Rather than donating cash, many donors opt for smarter giving, non-cash options that not only support HKIS but may also offer a variant of US tax benefits. We have partnered with FreeWill to enable you to make gifts of stock, cryptocurrency, gifts from your Donor Advised Fund (DAF) or an IRA.
Ways to Give
Use your US-based credit or debit card to make a gift online. Your gift can be made only in US Dollars; all denominations are listed in US Dollars.
After you make your gift, you will receive a gift receipt from Friends of HKIS, for your US tax records.
*Gifts made through Friends of HKIS will not qualify for a Hong Kong gift receipt.
Donating stocks allows you to avoid capital gains tax and often take a charitable deduction for the full value of the asset. Use the tool below to donate stock so we can track your gift, send you the correct receipt, and you can get the tax savings you deserve.
If you would prefer to make your donation through your broker, access our transfer information from the link below to notify Friends of HKIS of your gift.
Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) are investment accounts for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations today. The secure DAF link below:
- Automatically links with your DAF
- Allows you to recommend how you’d like your gift to be used
- Notifies us at Friends of HKIS of your intentions

If you are 70.5 or older, giving from your IRA can help reduce your taxable income — and for those over 73 who must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), an IRA gift is a simple way to fulfill it! By using the link below to give from your IRA, you can auto-complete your paperwork and we can track your gift to send you the proper tax receipts.
Friends of HKIS accepts donations of Ethereum, Bitcoin, and other cryptocurrencies! This gives you one more way to support HKIS students and teachers, and can provide you with extra tax benefits.

About Friends of HKIS
Over recent years, alumni and former employees, and parents of HKIS who are based in the US (or who have US tax obligations) have requested an efficient way to make gifts back to the school.
In late 2023, after years of work behind the scenes, HKIS’s Board of Managers partnered with loyal former parents and board members of the school to launch FOHKIS. This new foundation, based in the US, can receive gifts in US dollars from your US financial institutions using the same technology and processes of any other US-based nonprofit.
When you make a gift through FOHKIS, you are supporting the students, teachers and staff of Hong Kong International School! Your gift will flow to the school to be used to support the academics, arts, athletics, and religious and spirituality programming that makes HKIS one of the best schools in the world.
