The activities are grouped into three programs: After-School Activities (ASAs), HKIS Sports Academies, and Associated Clubs.
- After-school activities (ASAs) offer inclusive and skill-focused programs mainly delivered by third-party providers with the exception of HKIS Aquatics. These activities take place after school hours and provide students with transportation options. The HKIS Aquatics program focuses on swimming lessons and aquatics activities at the HKIS Repulse Bay campus, ensuring students' success, enjoyment, and improved skills while developing water safety knowledge.
- HKIS Sports Academies include Tai Tam Tigers Soccer and Southside Hawks Basketball. These sports provide students with competitive opportunities and develop a culture of excellence, commitment, and respect.
The Aquatics Academy is the after-school program offered by the HKIS Aquatics Department, whose mission is to provide a developmentally appropriate aquatics program for students at Hong Kong International School. Similar to its curricular goals and practice, students in the Academy are offered swim lessons and a variety of aquatics activities at their level & ability, thus ensuring students experience success, enjoyment, improvement of their skills, and development of their knowledge & understanding of water safety concepts & skills. Students can connect their curricular learning in P.E. classes and further develop their skills and interests in this after-school program.
The Tai Tam Tigers Soccer Academy was established in 1999 to provide soccer for children in HKIS and the local community. The club is owned and operated by HKIS and its Head Coaches and Admin staff are HKIS employees. The program has now evolved into an Academy program with 3-interlinked tiers consisting of 20 soccer teams and numerous training groups. Players within the Academy range from the recreational player to the advanced competitor with a clear pathway for everyone to progress through these tiers. Coaches perform on-going analysis to ensure the players are receiving the most developmentally appropriate soccer training based on the US Soccer Curriculum 4-Corner model.
The Southside Hawks Basketball Academy was established in 2009 to provide opportunities for students of all levels to experience the joy and camaraderie of playing basketball. All players, regardless of skill level, have a pathway to do basketball from the beginner level up to the advanced level. To provide more gameplay opportunities, recreational match play, friendly games and tournaments were organized so our Hawks teams could play other suitably skilled teams in Hong Kong. In 2013, the Hong Kong Junior Basketball League was born to provide a platform for any school or club team to join. Our Hawks teams started playing in this league at inception and continue to do so to this day with much success.
- Associated Clubs such as Tai Tam Baseball Club, Southside Lacrosse, Valley Fort Rugby, and Stingrays Swim Club, offer external club-based sports opportunities to HKIS students and the wider community, utilizing HKIS facilities and various locations in Hong Kong for practices and competitions.
