Four Divisions, Two Campuses, One Community
HKIS's two campuses are situated on the south of Hong Kong Island. The Repulse Bay campus houses the Lower and Upper Primary Schools. The Tai Tam campus houses the Middle and High Schools. Together we form one school community.
Middle School & High School Expansion - Tai Tam
With the Repulse Bay campus complete, the focus shifts to the Middle and High Schools for renovation and development.
As we move our focus to Tai Tam, The Student Activity Center will have ample space to expand Tai Tam’s sports and activity offerings for students and the community. With gyms newly situated, the space that the current Middle and High School gyms occupy will be transformed into a Performing Arts Hall seating over 900. After this, construction could begin on a final building next to the Middle School focused on spaces for our growing professional development program as well as additional student learning spaces.
More than Just Buildings
Master Facilities Plan
School facilities are an integral part of the learning experience at HKIS. That's why HKIS continually upgrades spaces to enhance teaching. The HKIS Master Facilities Plan (MFP) began more than 15 years ago in 2006 and included the redevelopment of our Repulse Bay campus. With a completely new Lower Primary and a fully renovated and expanded Upper Primary, which is our original building from the 1960s, this phase of the plan was completed in 2018. We are now entering an exciting phase of development - the Tai Tam campus.
For the Future
With our primary schools complete, HKIS is developing two sites adjacent to the Tai Tam campus. The first is the Student Activity Center, and the second is in development of Performing Art Center, which we will move the athletics program to the Student Activity Center that opens up the existing high school campus to construct a dedicated Performing Arts Center.
Our Classroom: The Tai Tam Peninsula
At HKIS, we see endless possibilities open to us through the curriculum we’ve established over 50 years. Driven by a strong mission, our focus is on how to apply learning in a real-world context and how our physical environment supports students’ learning. When we look at the whole of Tai Tam peninsula as our classroom, we can start to imagine the different ways our setting can support student learning.
Health, Wellbeing, and More!
Our newest development is a Student Activity Center that will bring our health and wellbeing program to life. This multi-story center will house sporting facilities and massive multi-purpose rooms for improving physical and mental health. With tennis courts on the roof, a 3-story indoor climbing wall and innovative fitness studios, the Student Activity Center is much more than ‘just a gym’!
