International schools are always playing a major role in Jing Ying tournaments. Before the pandemic, three consecutive victories in the Jing Ying tournament were won by international schools. In this year’s Jing Ying tournament, HKIS won against St. Joseph’s College and finished in second place in Division 1. HKIS then competed with S.W.C.S Chan Pak Sha School for a place in the quarter-finals of the Jing Ying Tournament.

Before the tournament, Sportsoho visited HKIS and talked with Coach Simon Thauvette, Captain Donald Ng '24, and Vice-captain Hugo Sundberg '25 about the values of the HKIS Soccer Team.

Ng '24, a senior, discusses how important it is to find joy in playing football. Sundberg '25, a junior, explains how determination and passion are crucial, and is the key to success. Simon Thauvette, a teacher and coach, shares his motto, “Not me, it’s we”, because he thinks that students should strive for victory together and learn from failure. Thauvette believes team spirit is the greatest advantage for players on the field.

Sportsoho Magazine’s March Issue, which covers the story of “All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Football Tournament 2023-2024”, was be published on February 25, 2024 and available at major convenience stores.
